Now we are four

…which means we can call the corners, right?

Ahem. The latest addition (and what seems to be an annual tradition now) to the band is vocalist and keyboardist Dana Liebchen. As far as I know, this is her first band.

Those of you in attendance at our September 21st gig are probably not the least bit surprised–she joined us onstage for a Depeche Mode cover (”It’s No Good”) and was incredible. What started out as a guest appearance has turned into a full-time thing! We have rehearsed a couple other tunes with her for the show Saturday night and are excited to widen the sound of the band.

Another New Post

I know, you’re wondering what happened to the few entries that were here in the first place. Yeah, I screwed up and lost the blog. Well, actually I couldn’t remember how to get back in it. Hey, it’s that whole “clean slate” idea that’s so popular nowadays or something.

At any rate, here’s a great place to start anew. A snapshot of Shortwave Dahlia as it stands right now:

Jack Alberson – keyboards, vocals, electronics

Mark Simmonds – electric bass

Ethan Grim– electric guitar*

We are currently working on the second album, tentatively named Synchronic. It will be my second SD album and Mark and Ethan’s first—Mark joined a year ago and Ethan joined last night. We are also looking to schedule a show in November.

I think that’s a solid overview of the band at this very moment in time. We’ll probably look back and say something like, “Man, I’m so glad we didn’t name that album Synchronic” or “Can you believe there was a time when we didn’t have a marimba player?”
